IRELAND’S JORDAN SLOAN set a new Irish record time of 1:43.26 to secure a place in the final of the 200m Freestyle at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark this afternoon.
The Bangor swimmer already set a 400m Freestyle record earlier this week and continued his good form this morning to reach the final with the third best time of the heats.

The final takes place at 4.08pm (Irish time) with the 24-year-old hoping to contest for the podium alongside Lithuania’s Danas Rapsys and Britain’s Duncan Scott.
This morning also saw Ireland participate in a senior Mixed Medley Relay on the international stage for the first time when Danielle Hill (Backstroke), Mona McSharry (Breaststroke), Conor Brines (Butterfly) and Calum Bain (Freestyle) set a new national record of 1:43.15.
Elsewhere, Alex Murphy and Darragh Greene were impressive in the 200m Breaststroke heats with both taking significant times off their previous bests.
Mona McSharry swam a lifetime best of 1:01.90 in the 100m Individual Medley, whilst in the 100m Backstroke Conor Ferguson was home in 53.32.
Danielle Hill rounded off the morning’s proceedings for Ireland with a 56.55 in the 100m Freestyle.
